There are two radar views in this loop. First part is a national radar loop showing the 03/14/2017 Nor’easter move up the east coast of the United States. The second part is from a local radar at the National Weather Service radar Binghamton, NY. The national radar loop was from 9:18 PM EDT March 12, 2017 (0118 UTC March 13, 2017) to 11:58 PM EDT March 15, 2017 (2358 UTC March 15, 2017). The local radar loop was from 03/13/2017 8:05 PM EDT (03/14/2017 00:05 UTC) to 03/15/2017 11:53 PM EDT (03/15/2017 23:53 UTC) The local radar loop showing bands over higher reflectivity moving slowly over the Binghamton, and Owego, NY areas. I live just to the east of Owego, NY and got 25 inches of snow in the end. There is no audio with this video. I know, why not add some music? I could but why not put your favorite music on while the loop is playing. Note: The local radar changes volume coverage patterns or VCPs during this loop. In the upper right of the image there is VCP 31 or VCP 21. More information on VCP can be found here,

SUBSCRIBE: Very Dangerous Storm and Severe Weather are Happening Now! Sign of The Times --- The Northeast U.S. braced for a winter blast of snow and strong winds that could take the title of biggest storm of the season from one that dumped up to 19 inches of snow just days ago. Winter storm warnings were in effect from upstate New York to Maine, where blizzard conditions and 2 feet of snow are possible. The National Weather Service says up to 19 inches of snow could fall in Boston through Monday, while Connecticut and Rhode Island could see a mix of snow, sleet and rain of more than 6 inches. Winter storm warnings were in effect from upstate New York to Maine. Blizzard conditions and up to 2 feet of snow were possible. Nearly all flights in and out of the airport in Manchester, New Hampshire have been canceled. A heavy snowstorm stranded nearly 100 vehicles in East Ujimqin Banner, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Friday morning, after lasting for over 36 hours. The local temperature dropped to under minus 20 degree Celsius due to the snowstorm since it fell on Wednesday and piled many roads with thick dense snow. Severe weather caused several problems across Oahu. A cold front brought wind and rain to the islands as it continues to sweep through much of the state, causing damage and even injuries on Oahu. A large tent — measuring about 40-by-100 feet — collapsed on the Great Lawn of Kapiolani Community College around 11:30 a.m. during a science and engineering fair put on by the Board of Education. A torrential rainstorm turned a small creek bed into a roaring river trapping a father and daughter on the roof of their car before authorities performed a dramatic rescue. With another storm on the way neighbors want the city to fix the problem. They say this isn’t the first time cars have been trapped in this wash. It’s been happening here for years and the question is what can be done about this and who’s going to pay for it? Watch the video to see all these and many more... An atmospheric river event is expected to plummet Southern California bringing heavy rain and snow into the area. Flash flood warnings have been issued in parts of Southern California, with potentially very dangerous debris flows expected as the strongest storm of the season descends upon the region. The heaviest rainfall is expected on March 21 and 22, 2018, according to the National Weather Service. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered in parts of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. The sun's behavior is about to change in a way that could have dramatic consequences for the food we eat and the broader economy. A line of severe storms swept through the southeastern United States on March 19 and 20, 2018, producing heavy rain, strong winds, very large hail and several damaging tornadoes. The storm downed trees and power lines, and caused significant hail and tornado damage. At least one person was killed. The Storm Prediction Center received 9 tornado reports tornadoes by 11:30 UTC, March 20. All of them took place in northern Alabama where they caused significant damage. While still not officially rated (or confirmed), NWS Birmingham said they will be sending out 2 storm survey teams on Tuesday. Tropical cyclone: A tropical cyclone is a rapidly rotating storm system characterized by a low-pressure center, a closed low-level atmospheric circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain. Depending on its location and strength, a tropical cyclone is referred to by different names, including hurricane (/ˈhʌrɪkən, -keɪn/), typhoon (/taɪˈfuːn/), tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, and simply cyclone.[4] A hurricane is a tropical cyclone that occurs in the Atlantic Ocean and northeastern Pacific Ocean, and a typhoon occurs in the northwestern Pacific Ocean; while in the south Pacific or Indian Ocean, comparable storms are referred to simply as "tropical cyclones" or "severe cyclonic storms". "Tropical" refers to the geographical origin of these systems, which form almost exclusively over tropical seas. "Cyclone" refers to their winds moving in a circle, whirling round their central clear eye, with their winds blowing counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. The opposite direction of circulation is due to the Coriolis effect. Tropical cyclones typically form over large bodies of relatively warm water. The strong rotating winds of a tropical cyclone are a result of the conservation of angular momentum imparted by the Earth's rotation as air flows inwards toward the axis of rotation. As a result, they rarely form within 5° of the equator. Tropical cyclones are almost unknown in the South Atlantic due to a consistently strong wind shear and a weak Intertropical Convergence Zone. Also, the African easterly jet and areas of atmospheric instability which give rise to cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, along with the Asian monsoon and Western Pacific Warm Pool, are features of the Northern Hemisphere and Australia. Atlantic hurricane: An Atlantic hurricane or tropical storm is a tropical cyclone that forms in the Atlantic Ocean, usually in the summer or fall. A hurricane differs from a cyclone or typhoon only on the basis of location.[1] A hurricane is a storm that occurs in the Atlantic Ocean and northeastern Pacific Ocean, a typhoon occurs in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, and a cyclone occurs in the south Pacific or Indian Ocean. Tropical cyclones can be categorized by intensity. Tropical storms have one-minute maximum sustained winds of at least 39 mph (34 knots, 17 m/s, 63 km/h), while hurricanes have one-minute maximum sustained winds exceeding 74 mph (64 knots, 33 m/s, 119 km/h). Most North Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes form between June 1 and November 30. The United States National Hurricane Center monitors the basin and issues reports, watches, and warnings about tropical weather systems for the North Atlantic Basin as one of the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers for tropical cyclones, as defined by the World Meteorological Organization. In recent times, tropical disturbances that reach tropical storm intensity are named from a predetermined list. Hurricanes that result in significant damage or casualties may have their names retired from the list at the request of the affected nations in order to prevent confusion should a subsequent storm be given the same name. On average, in the North Atlantic basin (from 1966 to 2009) 11.3 named storms occur each season, with an average of 6.2 becoming hurricanes and 2.3 becoming major hurricanes (Category 3 or greater).[6] The climatological peak of activity is around September 11 each season. Monster storm brought record rain, record waves and first snow thanks to increased cosmic rays and a weakening magnetosphere. A very strong storm system brought several forms of extreme weather to Michigan. Rainfall totals over six inches were observed in parts of Michigan. The New Year's Cruise carrying over 4,000 passengers was caught in a violent winter storm on the way back from the Bahamas. The ship was constantly rocking for 3 days! Although the ship is capable of handling such a storm, we saw some people sleeping in the hallways because of water leaking into their rooms from the balcony doors (or because some thought the ship was going to capsize.) We even saw a family walking around with their life jackets.
