I uploaded the Don Gibson version so I thought it only fair to put Jessi Colter's great version on as well.

I'm Jessi Colter - Diamond In The Rough (Released: August 16, 2011) Miriam Johnson, known professionally as Jessi Colter (born May 25, 1943),[1] is an American country music artist who is best known for her collaboration with her husband, country singer and songwriter Waylon Jennings, and for her 1975 country-pop crossover hit "I'm Not Lisa". Jessi Colter was one of the few female artists to emerge from the mid-1970s "outlaw" movement.[2] After meeting her future husband, Colter pursued a career in country music, releasing her first studio LP in 1970, A Country Star Is Born. Five years later, Colter signed with Capitol Records and released her first solo single, "I'm Not Lisa," which topped the country charts and reached the top 5 on the pop charts. In 1976 she was featured on the collaboration LP Wanted: The Outlaws, which became an RIAA-certified Platinum album, and helped her become one of the few female outlaw country stars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessi_Colter

I Thought I Heard You Calling My Name- by Porter Wagoner- Here's a clip that I put together around one of my favorite songs that Porter recorded- "I Thought I Heard You Calling My Name". It's a sad & beautiful song of longing that I can relate to all too well. I included some very early pictures from his music career and some later Opry footage from 2007 including one of his daughter Debra Jean greeting him with Porter's family at her side. I got a little teary eyed & I won't deny it. I hope you enjoy this song & be sure to check out more of Porter's music by going to- myspace.com/porterwagoner I run Porter's "Official Myspace" & it is a truly an honor to do so in his memory... If you enjoyed this video clip please subsribe to my video channel & visit Porter's Official Website & Myspace Page- youtube.com/jamesabilly porterwagoner.net myspace.com/porterwagoner Thanks for watching this :-) James Hunnicutt myspace.com/jamesabilly

One time duet partner of Marty Robbins, Lee Emerson wrote this sad country ballad. It was first a hit for Porter Wagoner and recently there have been versions by George Strait and Jessi Colter. I think it's a great song which Don Gibson sings with the right touch of loneliness and despair that the lyric demands. No doubt it's Chet Atkins accompanying him, but I stand to be corrected.

I'm Not Lisa by Jessi Colter STUDIO VERSION Updated: 07/11/2016: I'm Not Lisa From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "I'm Not Lisa" is a country music song written and recorded by American country artist Jessi Colter. It was released as a single on January 16, 1975 by Capitol Records. "I'm Not Lisa" would become Colter's first major hit as a solo artist. Content [ edit ] "I'm Not Lisa" was written by Colter and describes the pain that comes with dating someone who has not gotten over a previous lover. Specifically, the song is about a woman named Julie who laments the fact that her boyfriend keeps mentioning his previous girlfriend, named Lisa.[1] While singing on the recording of the original version of the song, Colter also played the song's piano accompaniment on the keyboards.[2] The song was produced by Ken Mansfield and Colter's husband, Waylon Jennings. Both men would also produce Colter's 1975 album, as well as her further releases for Capitol records.[3] The song has since been covered by many artists, including Rosemary Clooney, Marianne Faithfull, Tanya Tucker, Faith Hill and Nana Mouskouri in a French version. Elizabeth Cook recorded a version for her 2002 album Hey, Y'all. In 2005, Erika Jo recorded a version for her self-titled debut album, and also released it as single to country radio, but it failed to chart. Deana Carter performed a cover of the song with Colter for her 2007 album, The Chain.[4] The rock band Killdozer also covered "I'm Not Lisa" on their 1986 release Burl. Chart performance [ edit ] "I'm Not Lisa" was released on Capitol Records on January 16, 1975, making its debut on the country chart February 15, 1975.[4] The song became Colter's commercial breakthrough as a solo artist, peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.[5] It also was a major crossover Pop hit, peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and subsequently ranking as the 40th most popular song on Billboard's Year-End chart for 1975.[6] In addition, the song also reached #16 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, and was released on Colter's debut Capitol album, I'm Jessi Colter.[7] The song earned Colter a Grammy award nomination in the category of Best Female Country Vocal Performance[1] and a Country Music Association Awards nomination. Colter's follow-up single "What's Happened to Blue Eyes" became a Top 10 country hit. However, none of her subsequent releases for Capitol in the 1970s came close to the success of "I'm Not Lisa", which became Colter's signature tune and her only #1 single.[8] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_Not_Lisa

Jessi's beautiful haunting smash hit from 1975. I'm not Lisa, my name is Julie Lisa left you years ago My eyes are not blue But mine won't leave you 'Til the sunlight has touched your face She was your morning light Her smile told of no night Your love for her grew With each rising sun And then one winter day His hand led hers away She left you here drowning in your tears, here Where you've stayed for years Crying Lisa, Lisa I'm not Lisa, my name is Julie Lisa left you years ago My eyes are not blue But mine won't leave you 'Til the sunlight shines through your face
