how to handle stubborn toddlers - toddler discipline techniques Get it: http://haveatrial.com/talkingtotoddlers It is very frustrating to parents when trying to lead a toddler to correct the bad behaviors. Many parents are also not good at guessing what their children really want due to the busy work, and still can not get into child psychology and handle temper tantrums although those similar misbehavior cases occurred again and again, it seems not to work properly when you want to convey some logical concepts to them, after all, toddlers have poor communication techniques, you should learn how to improve your own positive toddler discipline techniques. As an expert in neuro-linguistic programming and language, the author presents you of how to talk to your toddlers exactly, through the effective communication delivered by extra body language and verbal language, you will gain the confidence back to build a great relationship with your stubborn kids even when they are driving you crazy right now.

In this 'Maggie Moment' Australia's "queen of common sense", parenting author, educator and resilience specialist Maggie Dent talks about anger as an emotion. Maggie reframes angry children so we can see them as struggling to deal with big, ugly feelings rather than simply being "bad", "difficult" or "challenging". She talks about how angry kids need their parents' help -- and looks at what steps parents can take to help their children shift from anger states to being calm. Why is it so hard for so many parents and teachers to get kids to do as they are told? Because too many adults have followed some very bad advice. It’s probably been a while. That’s too bad because the best research tells us that obedient children are happy children. And, from my experience as a family psychologist, the parents of obedient children are happy parents. Since all parents want their children to be happy, the question becomes: How does one get a child to obey? Is there some trick to it? Well, there are certainly are a lot of parents who think so. They believe that proper discipline is a matter of using the right methods, techniques, and strategies: what I call consequence delivery systems. Parents have been using these behavior-modification-based methods since they became popular in the 1960s – seemingly to no avail. Would anyone argue that today’s kids are more obedient than kids were several generations ago? I don’t think so. The reason these methods and techniques don’t work is that proper discipline is not a matter of proper methods. It’s a matter of a proper attitude on the part of the parent. Let me illustrate the point. Let’s say that for a week I observe the classroom of a grade school teacher who has the reputation of being the best disciplinarian in her district. She consistently has fewer behavior problems than any of her colleagues. What is she doing? She’s making her expectations perfectly clear. Which means, first, she communicates in simple, declarative sentences. She doesn’t use fifty words when she could use ten. The more words you use to communicate your expectations, the less confident you sound. Second, she prefaces her instructions to her students with authoritative phrases like “I want you to…” and “It’s time for you to…” She says, “It’s time for you to take out your math books and turn to page 25” as opposed to “Let’s take out our math books and turn to page 25. Okay?” Third, this teacher does not explain the motives behind her instructions to her students. Why? Because she knows that explanations invite arguments. Whenever parents tell me they’re dealing with an argumentative child I know that these well-intentioned people are explaining themselves. They tell their child why they want him to pick up his toys, for example. And he argues, because you can always pick apart an explanation. If you don’t explain yourself when you give an instruction to a child, then the child, being a child, is almost surely going to ask for one. He’s going to ask Why? or Why not? At which point… get ready for a big surprise… your answer should be “Because I said so.” For the complete script, visit https://www.prageru.com/videos/how-get-kids-listen

Sadhguru looks at how a child needs a friend, not a boss. If we enforce our ideas upon a child, he will lose his sense of independence, and this could result in rebelliousness later on. Once you become a parent, the most important thing is that you have to be 100% straight. You just have to protect them from the wrong influences, the rest let them free, he says. At the same time, they should remain free from your influence, he points out. **************************************** Transcript: http://isha.sadhguru.org/blog/video/parenting-raise-yourself-before-you-raise-your-kids/ Questioner: Pranam Sadhguru. One of the tasks that we are given and trying to do it is to raise the… taking care of the kid… taking care of your children at home, but we are troubled with we… whenever we to make a decision or not to make a decision get troubled with like what to consider or what not to consider. Can you give us some perspective about something that we should think while making a decision or not making a decision for the kids? Sadhguru: Why are you making all the decisions for them? Questioner: (Laughs) That’s the trouble. I am sure that I am not the right person to make the decision, but should that be made or not like what do I do when I need to do something? Sadhguru: Hmm? First thing, we need to understand is children only come through you, they don’t come from you. They are not your property to be conducted whichever way you feel fit. No, they are not. If you treat them as your property or your future investment – if you treat them as such, you are committing a certain sacrilege against Creation and the Creator for which there will be a price. Simply it’ll come in the form of life or maybe it’ll come in the form of your children – the price. Yes, it’ll be very unfortunate to see that. I am saying this – a very cruel thing to say to any parent, but I am saying this because it’s a very cruel thing to parent a child. The child doesn’t need that, but please see in so many ways, you’re doing everything possible to see that he remains dependent on you in some way or the other. You are not thinking of liberating him. So, the moment you start working, you want your children to be attached to you, isn’t it? Well, you yourself open Bhagavat Gita and read and say ‘You should not be attached, you should not be attached’, you tell your wife ‘See don’t be attached to me so that you don’t ask me when I don’t come home.’ (Laughter) But your children, you want them attached to you. So before you choose to have children, you must think about these things but if already it’s happened, now… at least now you must think about it properly, seriously. One thing is if you want to produce something little better than yourself to the world, hmm? It’s important? If you produce a child, it must be at least one step better than you, isn’t it? If the same nonsense is going to happen once again, what’s the point? (Tamil)Subconscious Mind Through Positive Parenting In Tamil #2 The parent’s unintentional influence on your subconscious mind paradigms When our parents had us, they came with their own baggage of negative subconscious mind settings. It’s not their fault; it’s nobody’s fault and it is unnecessary to look for whom to blame. Statements like those are poisonous for a young kid’s soul! It programs the subconscious mind for failure, for lack of confidence. It has a huge impact on children’s lives and the way their perception is shaped, and the way they observe reality. Studies have shown that children up to the age of 7 do not have the tools to determine what is right and wrong. What happens in kids’ lives goes straight to the subconscious mind, because they don’t have defenses or a gatekeeper. Your current reality is shaped by your old subconscious mind settings Then they grow up with those destructive subconscious mind beliefs and live their lives as adults and react to their life circumstances in the same way that they reacted when they were children. Maybe they don’t cry, wine or scream due to social codes, but they can be discouraged very easily from making a change, get offended easily from other people who push those painful buttons and that brings them back to their childhood. No wonder people get scared quickly, are frightened of others and live with fear. No wonder they attract on a regular basis people who treat them badly, and the pattern goes on and on. Their emotional system is imbalanced; their subconscious mind is programmed to fail in certain areas of life. This is a new era and there is a consciousness movement that is increasing rapidly. People are more aware; people realize that their thoughts can change their reality; people take courses, go to therapists and work on themselves and their self improvements. Don’t just teach your kids; leave them a legacy. 1.Teach your kids that pain is mandatory, but suffering is optional. 2.Tell them how the essence of the world is of love and compassion. 3.That nothing really matters but the amount of love and gratitude a person feels towards the world within and around. 4.Teach them the Universe is abundant. 5.Tell them they can choose to be, do and have whatever their heart desires. 6.Encourage them to find their purpose in life. 7.Teach them law, but fewer rules. 8.Let them choose by centering and awakening to their heart. 9.Lead them to quiet their mind every night before sleep. 10.Every night, help them to co-create their next day by dropping whatever they wish in a big beautiful shining ball. 11.Empower them to ask for what they truly want at any given moment. 12.Assure them that, if what they long for resonates with love and compassion, they will certainly receive it. 13.Teach them the Law of Attraction, Ho’oponopono, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), deep breathing and meditation. Dalai Lama says, “If every 8-year-old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.” 14.Go for short ones depending on their age as they might get bored and lose interest. 15.Make the visualizations interesting and colorful so they look forward to nightly meditations. 16.When in a shower, train them to visualize they are getting cleansed from negative feelings and thoughts. And once all clear, ask them to feel they are getting showered with blessings, light, joy and love. 17.Tell them to make a pause and visit their heart before saying or doing anything. 18.Let them know that they are not their emotions. 19.Use subconscious techniques to remedy the chronic negative feelings and attitudes. 20.Dance, sing, play, tell jokes, laugh out loud, race and play tag. 21.Talk to them about your personal experiences and the lessons you are learning every day. 22.Remember that the best present is to be present. 23.Don’t forget that you, too, can wish and visualize the ideal behavior for your kids. Watch more How to Instill Good Values in Kids videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/398330-How-to-Teach-a-Toddler-to-Talk Children rapidly learn to speak between the ages of 1 and 3. Here are some ways to foster your toddler's gift of gab. Step 1: Create a proper environment Create a speech intensive environment for the child. The toddler should frequently be exposed to speech, songs, and stories. Tip Hearing stories read aloud gives children a chance to hear words they do not encounter in everyday speech. Step 2: Use appropriate language Use single words, or simple combinations of words, when communicating with a child who is just beginning to talk. Use more complex patterns with more advanced toddlers. Step 3: Talk about things that matter to the child Talk to toddlers about things that matter to them such as their toys, siblings, and food. Talk with the child, not at them. Step 4: Adapt your teaching style Adapt your teaching style to the child's particular learning style. If lots of repetition is important to the toddler, use it. Step 5: Engage the child in conversation Try to engage the child in conversation by asking more than "yes" or "no" questions. This encourages the toddler to experiment with more complex speech patterns. Did You Know? Some experts believe that chewing food helps children develop the mouth coordination required for speech.

http://www.danaryan.com - This week's toddler topic is speech delays with your toddler. If your child doesn't speak 50 words or less by the age of 2, they are considered a "late talker". Since we are receiving speech therapy in our home for one of the boys, there are a few things we are working on to help encourage talking.
