(25 Apr 2018) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: AP CLIENTS ONLY ASSOCIATED PRESS Las Vegas, 24 April 2018 1. Wide of director Andy Serkis speaking to reporters 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Andy Serkis, director/actor - on how his story is different than the "Jungle Book": "It's a familiar story but, as with all classic pieces of writing, the interpretation is everything and this I feel is probably closest to Rudyard Kipling's book that was written at the turn of the century, 19th century. It is very much located in Indian culture as a big Indian cast. In fact, you see a lot of Mowgli not only in the village, in the jungle, being raised as a feral child, as wolf with animals but also trying to negotiate how to become a human. And really what is I think what the book is really about is his wiliness and his steeliness and his using his skills and everything that he's learned emotionally and in terms of his animal side from being grown up with animals but applying that to, there's certain rules and customs that aren't right for him as an animal neither are there customs and traditions and ways of being in the human world that are right for him and he has to create his own identity." 3. Medium shot Benedict Cumberbatch speaking to reporters 4.  SOUNDBITE (English) Benedict Cumberbatch, actor - on what makes this film special: "One of the wonders of the film, what little I've seen of it, very very little, just some of the stuff I've done in it - it's seamless between live action, between real environments, between the jungle, the water, and this extraordinary rendition of our performances and animated creature. The creatures are very much... It's all nearer Kipling's intentions. It's, the creatures carry the spirit of the jungle with them and they're not shiny, pristine creatures who burst into song. These are animals and their animal nature is pretty laid bare, pretty open and honest and yeah, they don't mess around." 5.  SOUNDBITE (English) Andy Serkis, director/actor on when the film will be finished: "We are 10 days away, 10 days away from finishing." (Reporter: So no sleep for another 10 days.") "No. We had to break off to come talk about it, sort of just slightly before the final hurdle you know?" (Reporter: "Are you editing here? What work can you get done here?" "I literally flew over from the U.K. for today and I'm going back tonight, so yeah." STORYLINE: ANDY SERKIS AND BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH DISCUSS THEIR 'JUNGLE BOOK' ADAPTATION, 'MOWGLI' Andy Serkis could've done without a trip to Las Vegas' CinemaCon this week. The British director was on hand to promote "Mowgli" - his live-action reimaging of Rudyard Kipling classic "The Jungle Book." "We are 10 days away, 10 days away from finishing," smiled Serkis. "We had to break off to come talk about it, sort of just slightly before the final hurdle you know?" Serkis was joined in Sin City by actor Benedict Cumberbatch who will provide vocal work for Bengal tiger Shere Khan. "It's seamless between live action, between real environments, between the jungle, the water, and this extraordinary rendition of our performances and animated creatures," said the British actor. "The creatures are very much... It's all nearer Kipling's intentions. It's, the creatures carry the spirit of the jungle with them and they're not shiny, pristine creatures who burst into song. These are animals and their animal nature is pretty laid bare, pretty open and honest and yeah, they don't mess around." The title character will be portrayed by American Rohan Chand, with a jungle of CGI animals voiced by the likes of Serkis himself (Baloo), Christian Bale (Bagheera), Cate Blanchett (Kaa) and Peter Mullan (Akela). Jungle Book Movie Showdown: Which will be better? Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies Ali vs Frazier! Coke vs Pepsi! Batman vs Superman! Favreau vs Serkis? Yes, the world is full of great rivalries and the latest could be coming thanks to a giant talking bear. Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book is by far one of the most beloved adventure tales of all time, with its fame being cemented by Disney’s 1967 animated classic. It’s arguably the version that most audiences’ are familiar with, but now, two, count ‘em, two Jungle Book films are currently in the works. With each utilizing a blend of live-action and motion capture CGI and sporting incredible directors, star-studded casts and the promise of some incredible imagery, it’s hard to decide which will come out on top. But let’s break them down. First up, the directors - In one corner we have the veteran, Jon Favreau. Fresh off his critically acclaimed independent film Chef and a list of hits that include Elf and two Iron Man films, Favreau has easily become the go-to guy for establishing new and exciting worlds for familiar tales while maintaining a blockbuster budget and audience. This track record has to be pretty intimidating to first time director Andy Serkis who will be helming the second Jungle Book adaptation titled Jungle Book: Origins. Now Serkis has dabbled in directing before having handled second unit duties on The Hobbit trilogy and this was no small feat considering the scope of those films, but it’s Andy’s title of motion capture king that truly sets him apart in this battle. In a story that completely takes place in the jungle, surrounded by a cast of talking animals, we have to put a little faith in the man who has portrayed Caesar, Gollum and King Kong so effectively. This motion capture advantage also gives Serkis the upper hand in directing his cast where he’ll be able to quite effectively convey the actions he wants to depict on screen. With actors like Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, Christian Bale as Bagheera, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, and Serkis himself playing Baloo, Jon Favreau and his cast certainly have their work cut out for them. Of course, Favreau has lined up an equally stellar cast that includes Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Bill Murray as Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, and Christopher Walken as King Louie. This is no D-list cast and it definitely shows Favreau’s preference for working with some of the same actors. It also shows a similarity between his and Serkis’ casting in terms of the snake Kaa. Both directors have gone for a husky-voiced female, the opposite of the male comic relief that Kaa was in the 1967 animated film, but definitely gives us a clue as to the vibe each director will be striving for. Speaking of the vibe of the films, probably the biggest differences between the two will be the movie’s tone. Serkis has stated his film will be taking the darker path, telling THR, “…it’s very truthful to the original book; it doesn’t shy away from the darkness.” Whether or not you think the world needs two more Jungle Book movies, it seems each film will have vastly different stories to display to audiences once premiere time comes. Additionally, we know Serkis left his ambitious Animal Farm adaption to take on the Jungle Book tale as a passion project, having been a fan of the book since he first read it as a child. Knowing this, we can only hope Andy will be putting all of his motion captured heart and soul into it. With two fantastic directors, unbelievably amazing casts, and the promise of two wildly different films, I for one am honestly excited to see what these two bring to the table. But which version of The Jungle Book are you most looking forward to? Mo-cap king Andy Serkis’ dark, truthful adaption or Jon Favreau’s fun loving, but still grounded in reality version? Warner Bros. Pictures just released the first official trailer for Mowgli - their take on the Jungle Book. This movie has an all star cast and looks pretty good. But is it the same as Disney's live action Jungle Book we just saw? Motion capture and live action are blended for “Mowgli,” a new, big-screen, 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic The Jungle Book. The film features an impressive roster of stars under the direction of Andy Serkis. The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins. The actors performing the roles of the story’s central animal characters are: Oscar winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter,” the “Dark Knight” Trilogy) as the cunning panther, Bagheera; Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine,” “The Aviator”) as the sinister snake, Kaa; Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Imitation Game,” “Avengers: Infinity War”) as the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan; Oscar nominee Naomie Harris (“Moonlight,” “Skyfall”) as Nisha, the female wolf, who adopts the baby Mowgli as one of her cubs; and Andy Serkis (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) as the wise bear, Baloo. On the human side, Matthew Rhys (“The Post”) is Lockwood; Freida Pinto (“Knight of Cups”) is Messua; and young actor Rohan Chand (“The Hundred-Foot Journey,” “Bad Words”) will play Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves. Rounding out the cast are Peter Mullan (“Tommy’s Honour”), as the leader of the wolf pack, Akela; Jack Reynor (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”), as Mowgli’s brother Wolf; Eddie Marsan (TV’s “Ray Donovan”), as Nisha’s mate, Vihaan; and Tom Hollander (“Breathe”) as the scavenging hyena, Tabaqui. “Mowgli” is produced by Steve Kloves (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”), Jonathan Cavendish (“Breathe,” performance capture producer on “Godzilla”), and David Barron (the “Harry Potter” films), with Nikki Penny serving as executive producer. The screenplay is by Kloves’ daughter, Callie Kloves. Serkis’s creative filmmaking team includes director of photography Michael Seresin (“War for the Planet of the Apes”), production designer Gary Freeman (“Tomb Raider”) and editors Mark Sanger (Oscar winner, “Gravity”), Alex Marquez (“Snowden”) and Jeremiah O’Driscoll (“Flight”). The music is composed by Nitin Sawhney (“Breathe”). Watch the new trailer for #Mowgli starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Freida Pinto. Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book adaptation is undergoing a bit of an overhaul, being renamed Mowgli and getting a new synopsis. The project was once called Jungle Book: Origins, in an effort to differentiate from the 2016 The Jungle Book, and will now go under the new title. Accompanying the name change, is a promise that the live-action adaptation will bring something to new to the classic story. News of Serkis’ Jungle Book movie broke roughly around the time that Disney remade their animated movie into a live-action one. https://screenrant.com/jungle-book-andy-serkis-mowgli-synopsis/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Entertainment using http://wochit.com

🎬 Mowgli Trailer #1 ( 2018 ) Film Trailer | Movie Trailers ------------------------------ ✔️ SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE ✔️ ------------------------------ Mowgli is an upcoming adventure fantasy film directed by Andy Serkis and written by Callie Kloves, based on The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. The film stars Rohan Chand, Matthew Rhys and Freida Pinto, along with voice and motion capture performances from Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Naomie Harris and Serkis. Talks of a new Jungle Book film from Warner Bros. began in 2012 and various directors, including Steve Kloves, Ron Howard and Alejandro González Iñárritu, were approached before Serkis was confirmed in March 2014. Much of the cast signed on that August and principal photography began in March 2015. Filming took place in South Africa and at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England. Originally scheduled to be released in October 2016 by Warner Bros., the film was delayed numerous times to work on the visual effects and to create space between itself and the April 2016 release of Disney's own Jungle Book adaptation. In July 2018, Warner Bros. sold the rights for the film to Netflix, who in turn scheduled it for a 2019 release. ------------------------------ PLOT: The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli (Rohan Chand) raised by a pack of wolves in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo (Andy Serkis) and a black panther named Bagheera (Christian Bale), Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own, except for one; the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch). But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins. ------------------------------ CAST: Rohan Chand as Mowgli Matthew Rhys as John Lockwood Freida Pinto as Messua - Voice and motion-capture cast Christian Bale as Bagheera Cate Blanchett as Kaa Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan Naomie Harris as Nisha Andy Serkis as Baloo Peter Mullan as Akela Jack Reynor as Brother Wolf Eddie Marsan as Vihaan Tom Hollander as Tabaqui ------------------------------

Hollywood studio Warner Bros unveiled their upcoming slate on the second day of movie theater expo Cinemacon on Tuesday (April 24) and brought the talent from "Tag", "Aquaman" and "Mowgli" to meet the press there. Fans of the DC Comics film "Aquaman" were hoping that the appearance of the film at Cinemacon would usher forth a trailer. However, director James Wan hasn't finished the effects on the film so didn't want to give audiences a wrong impression. "It's a really hard one," Wan told Reuters. "Out of all the movies that I've made, this particular film is one where so much of it is not necessarily completed once I've finished editing the film. So much of the film is visual effects, and I want to make sure that the stuff that gets out there are a bit closer. Having said that, the stuff that I'm bringing here to Cinemacon is very much a work in progress." Jason Momoa explained that the film was going to look much different to anything seen before on film as a lot of the movie is filmed underwater and likened it to "Star Wars" or "Avatar." Actor and director Andy Serkis finally got to show some footage at Cinemacon of his film "Mowgli", a dark retelling of the story of Rudyard Kipling's classic "The Jungle Book". The film has been overshadowed by the release of Disney's "The Jungle Book" in 2016, which was critically received and did good business at the box office. However, Benedict Cumberbatch who plays the tiger, Shere Khan, said, "I think the main difference is the use of live action, of real time environment whether it be a jungle or a desert or anything else that comes about like the water. It's very much filmed with those elements, and the blend between the scenes was extraordinary." The final film which offered talent at the red carpet for the presentation was "Tag", a film about a group of men who get together and continue to play tag. Ed Helms, who plays one of the men, said, "The movie isn't about immature guys, it's about very normal guys who tap into this childlike game and competition with each other and they keep their friendship afloat." Cinemacon continues until Thursday April 26.

Netflix has acquired the worldwide rights to Andy Serkis’ “Mowgli” from Warner Bros., an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap. It’s Netflix’s biggest acquisition of a finished film to date. The live-action/CGI retelling of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale will star Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Naomie Harris and Serkis. Rohan Chand will star as Mowgli. Callie Kloves wrote the screenplay based on Kipling’s story. Producers on the project include Jonathan Cavendish, Steve Kloves and Serkis. At CinemaCon in April, Serkis promised a darker, bloodier tale that will delve deeper into the conflict of man vs. nature that lies at the heart of the famous tale. Earlier this year, Netflix took over the third film of the “Cloverfield” franchise from Paramount, which turned out to be “God Particle.” The streaming service also acquired the worldwide rights to New Line Cinema’s “Shaft,” as well as the foreign rights to Natalie Portman’s “Annihilation.” https://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/the-wrap/article/Netflix-Takes-Worldwide-Rights-to-Andy-Serkis-13110823.php http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Entertainment using http://wochit.com

Tolkien. “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and the Company of Dwarves. The Dwarves of Erebor have reclaimed the vast wealth of their homeland, but now must face the consequences of having unleashed the terrifying Dragon, Smaug, upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. As he succumbs to dragon-sickness, the King Under the Mountain, Thorin Oakenshield, sacrifices friendship and honor in his search for the legendary Arkenstone. Unable to help Thorin see reason, Bilbo is driven to make a desperate and dangerous choice, not knowing that even greater perils lie ahead. An ancient enemy has returned to Middle-earth. Sauron, the Dark Lord, has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide—unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends as five great armies go to war. “The Hobbit” Trilogy tells a continuous story set in Middle-earth 60 years before “The Lord of the Rings,” which Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson and his team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.” Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, with Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins, and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. The international ensemble cast is led by Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Benedict Cumberbatch, Billy Connolly, James Nesbitt, Ken Stott, Aidan Turner, Dean O'Gorman, Graham McTavish, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage. The film also stars Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Orlando Bloom, Mikael Persbrandt, Sylvester McCoy, Peter Hambleton, John Callen, Mark Hadlow, Jed Brophy, William Kircher, Stephen Hunter, Adam Brown, John Bell, Manu Bennett and John Tui.

While on Good Morning Britain this week, actor and director Andy Serkis shared some details about his upcoming movie adaptation of 'The Jungle Book', which will be called 'Mowgli'. Serkis, who will do motion capture for Baloo, says the film will have a darker take on the friendly and easygoing bear from past adaptations. Serkis explains, "He is actually quite tough in this one. A dark Baloo.” In addition, Serkis says the movie has earned a PG-13 rating for “bloody images." 'Mowgli' hits theatres on October 19, 2018. https://screenrant.com/mowgli-andy-serkis-pg-13-baloo/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Entertainment using http://wochit.com

In a new interview, Andy Serkis said that his own big screen adaptation of 'The Jungle Book' is "much more savage" than Jon Favreau and Disney's recent film. Serkis, who is directing and with working with Warner Bros. on the movie, said this week, "I saw Disney's film, and it's great, but ours is a completely different take. Ours is much more savage. There are no songs, and it's not meant for young families." Serkis, whose Jungle Book' movie will be released in 2018, went on to add of Disney, "We were neck and neck for some time. And the fact of the matter is we probably could've come out in cinemas closer together. But the decision was 'why do that?'" http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/movies/movie-news/andy-serkis-jungle-book-savage-disney-1072750.html?f=rss http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Entertainment using http://wochit.com
